Although the official Infinity Chronicles Blog launched in June of 2020, I have honoured an ongoing journal practice since the young age of 10. The chronicle below was written on December 3, 2018, and is symbolic of Infinity’s core values. Below is an excerpt of the original ideation of the “Ripple Effect,” an initiative designed for economic and mindful community contribution.
In the summer of 2018 I embraced my practice of mindfulness and decided that NOW was the most important moment – and rather than waiting for the “right time,” or until I retired, that I had been given a chance to “rewire” my career path – and launch Infinity, which transpired in the fall of 2018.
As December was approaching, I began reflecting on how to give back during the holiday season – to my customers, clients and community. As a Solo-preneur, I wouldn’t be hosting a staff party and I wanted my holiday contribution to be unique and meaningful.
During my meditation practice in the morning of December 3, 2018, I had an epiphany. As a generously bestowed scholarship recipient from my high school and community, I was reminded of my bucket list goal to establish a bursary to “give back.” Spontaneously, (this is one of the many benefits of meditation) this bucket list goal united with my holiday contribution contemplations.
With this in mind, and in the spirit of reciprocity and to commemorate the many people who contributed to Infinity’s growth, development and launch, I decided to invest $500 into an account, and establish a Scholarship Program for future graduates of the high school I graduated from – Portage Collegiate Institute.
Moreover, I decided to share my gratitude with the many people that have inspired, empowered and supported me in my personal and professional development towards launching Infinity. I believe that people come into our lives for a “reason, season or lifetime,” and that we can learn more about ourselves in almost every interaction and relationship we have. To celebrate the holiday season, I decided to send a greeting out – and it was quite the task to obtain addresses of retired teachers, colleagues and friends whom I’ve lost touch with. My greeting is included below for all those teachers, previous clients, colleagues and friends who I was unable to obtain addresses for.
On December 21, 2018, I made a number of stops within my community of Portage la Prairie – to hand deliver my holidays greeting to my Junior High and High School Teachers still working within the field. On my journey, I was reminded of the fragility of life – I heard stories of two teachers who had passed away in December of 2018; another recently retired teacher whose life had been impacted by cancer since retirement. As I drove home, I was struck by the stories I had heard and the impermanence of life. This coupled with the memory of my Dad, who died at the young age of 57, solidified for me that I was walking the path that I’m meant to in this life.
The infinity sign is a lemniscate – a geometrical symbol of limitlessness. However, in this life, we do have limits on the time we have here. At this moment in my life, I live my values of courage, self-ownership, authenticity, and peacefulness while pursuing my lifework goal – to inspire and empower others to pursue their lifework.
It is my belief that when one embraces their lifework, they’re inspired. Inspired people lead with authenticity, self-ownership and courage. They are at greater peace with themselves and others; better equipped to manage the many crossroads of life. They inspire greatness for others to do the same.
